Remember, Remember The Fifth of November The gunpowder, treason, and plot. I know of no reason Why the Gunpowder Treason Should ever be forgot. The throne was claimed By a Scotsman called James (The sixth, but now known as first). He never did bitches And loved to burn witches But Catholics -- He hated these worst. A Catholic named Wright Was enraged by this plight and assembled a trio of sorts. He, Wintour and Catesby Together arranged the Attack on James and House of Lords. They hired a guy Whose name was, well, 'Guy' And gathered the help of some others Right under the Lords And hidden by boards Guy stashed their surprise undercover Thirty-six barrels Of gunpowder able To undo a mass of great size Were brought to attention By a source yet unmentioned On the 4th to Lord Monteagle's eyes. The plot was contested And Guy was arrested; Many were tortured and killed. Now we light fires And build little pyres To remember the blood that had spilled.
